UDHAMPUR, May 22: In continuation to drive against narcotics and drug peddlers, Udhampur Police achieved success when they seized 33.5 Kg poppy straw, concealed in bags in possession of one driver of Tata Mobile.
The bags were concealed in specially fabricating cabin of the Tata Mobile, bearing registration number JK02AG-3217, which was on way from Srinagar to Jammu. The accused driver has been identified as Sajad Ahmed son of Abdul Hamid of Tungpona tehsil, district Pulwama.
A Police party from PS Chenani, under the supervision of Dy SP Chanderjeet Singh, intercepted the vehicle and recovered the poppy straw. Police seized the narcotics along with the vehicle and also arrested driver.
A case under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) has been registered in this connection at Chenani Police Station.
