SIT set up in Kanachak PS case

JAMMU, May 23: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh Jamwal today constituted the Special Investigating Team (SIT) to investigate allegations against officers/officials of Kanachak police station, who had been charged by a woman for committing excesses on her in police custody.
DIG Civil Defence/Home Guards and SDRF Jammu, Basant Rath has been named chairman of the Committee.
The Members of the Committee included Sandeep Choudhary, SP City South Jammu, Mohan Lal Kaith, SP Armed PCR Jammu, Sugandha Mahajan, DySP Headquarters Jammu and Suresh Kumar, Chief Prosecuting Officer (CPO) High Court Jammu.
The SIT will report progress of the investigations to Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu on weekly basis, an official order issued today by the IGP Jammu said.
The then SHO Kanachak Inspector Rajesh Sharma was attached after allegations against the police officials, leveled by the woman, went viral on social media.
