DDC reviews arrangements for Aghar Jitto Mela

REASI, May 24: District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar today convened meeting of officers to review arrangements for three day historic Aghar Jitto Mela slated to be held from June 8 to 10.
The meeting was attended by ASP Sanjay Singh Rana, ACR Abdul Satar, CMO L.D. Bhagat, district officers, Executive Engineers, Tehsildars, organisers and other prominent people.
It was informed in the meeting that the holy festival would be organised at the main shrine with different activities to attract devotees and pilgrims from various parts of the State and country.
The Baba Jitto Mandir Development Committee apprised the DDC on all major issues and requirements including additional stairs, mercury lights, dustbins, construction of foot bridge over Aghar Jitto Nalla and other requisite facilities for smooth organisation of the event.
After threadbare discussion, DDC instructed the concerned officers for clearance of drains, repair of a patch from lower Mandir to the site of upper Mandir, maintenance of stairs and ground. The officers were asked to ensure ration and other essential commodities while Executive Engineers of PHE and PDD were stressed to ensure water and power supply without interruption.
Instructions were also passed for deployment of security personnel and safai karamchari and other workers for the mela. Tourism Department was directed to ensure the publicity of the event and Information Department was asked to arrange PAS for three days.
Other decisions on cultural programme including natak of Baba Jitto and establishment of stalls were also taken in the meeting.
The DDC totally banned polythene bags and other plastic material  in and around the shrine areas and passed instructions that no eating points and business establishments would make their sale and purchase. He said no devotee or visitor shall be allowed to bring polythene in the mela.
