AMT teacher murdered at home

JAMMU, May 24: A woman teacher of Ancillary Medical Training (AMT) School, Jammu, was found murdered at her residence in Reshamghar Colony, this morning.
“The deceased lady teacher was identified as Anita Suri (58) wife of late Vinod Gandotra, resident of Quarter No 12, Reshamghar Colony, Jammu”, a police spokesman said, adding, the matter came to light when deceased’s son, who was out of home, came back home in the morning and found his mother in a pool of blood.
The spokesman said that on the call of the deceased teacher’s son, a police team from police station Bakshi Nagar along with forensic experts reached the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where a board of doctors conducted post mortem on the body and after that body was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
When contacted, SP City, Dr Vinod Kumar, said that the woman was murdered by hitting her head with a sharp edged weapon during the intervening night of May 23 and 24, when she was alone at her quarter. He said that no theft has taken place in the house and no weapon of offence has been recovered from the spot.
“In this connection, a case under Section 302 against unidentified person/persons has been registered at police station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started”, he added.
