19 bovine animals rescued, 3 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 25: Udhampur Police today foiled separate attempts of bovine smuggling and arrested three smugglers besides rescuing 19 animals.
A Police party headed by I/C PP Tikri laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02W-3833. During checking, seven bovines were found loaded in the truck. Police rescued the animals and arrested the accused driver namely Sultan son of Noor Mohd. of Jhajjer Kotli Jammu. In this regard, a case FIR No. 69/17 has been registered at Police Station Rehambal under relevant sections of law and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile a team of Police Station Chenani intercepted two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration number JK02BR-7986 and JK02AW-3421 near Motorshed NHW. During checking, 12 bovines were found loaded in these vehicles. The animals were rescued and the accused persons namely Murad Ali son of Mohd Saif of Miralian R S Pura Jammu and Liaqat Ali son of Mohd Shafi of Digiana were arrested on the spot.
In this connection case FIRs No. 63/17 and 64/17 have been registered at Police Station Chenani under relevant sections of law. Both the vehicles have been seized and further investigation is going on.
