JAMMU, May 27: Maintaining that the fight against corruption must begin  from the top, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister today lambasted the State Government for failing to take action against the tainted ministers, MPs and MLAs who had encroached vast tracts of State, Forest and Custodian lands besides having installed illegal Brick kilns, stone crushers and Hot wet mix plants in various parts of the State.
He said that despite adverse reports by various investigating agencies and media exposures, the high profile politicians had been granted immunity by the BJP-PDP Government thus making a mockery of its much trumpeted slogan of corruption free dispensation. He was addressing a huge public gathering at Manwal after concluding his whirl wind tour of Balpur, Tanani, Bharnara and Battal villages of tehsil Majalta.
Addressing the public, Harsh Dev Singh said that having abandoned its core philosophy, the BJP had joined hands with PDP under the slogans of “good governance” and development both of while had become completely extinct. Leave aside good governance said Harsh, there was no sign of governance in the State with all round chaos and turbulence in all the regions. He said that while Jammu was boiling and Kashmir burning, the trigger happy and power intoxicated ministers had abandoned their responsibility to the common masses of the State. With shrill cries of the agitating employees, DRWs, contractuals and consolidated having been given a deaf ear, the ministers appeared to be obsessed rather overawed with photo ops and self aggrandizement.
Harsh Dev Singh later presided over the concluding function of the cricket tournament held in Manwal in which cricket teams from various villages of tehsil Majalta participated.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Dharam Singh Bittu, Rajesh Sharma, Balwant Raj, Karnail Singh, Baldev Singh Mankotia, Jeevan Lal, Parshotam Singh, Makhan Lal Sharma, Bodh Raj Sharma, Sunil Singh Sumbriya, Sukhjit Singh besides others.
