JAMMU, May 30: The Red Cross Unit of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar organized a guest lecture on holistic health and science of yoga and stress management here today.
On the occasion, Dr TR Raina, Former Prof and Head Department of Blood Transfusion Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and former Programme Director Advanced Yoga Centre GMC Jammu was the resource person.
Dr Raina gave a power point presentation on the history, scientific basis of yoga, its numerous health benefits, fitness as well as stress management to the staff and students of college. He demonstrated through animations and body exercises how yoga can be an instant relief from stress, and cure for many diseases.
Principal of College, Dr Kiran Bakshi who was chief guest on the occasion underlined the need of opting yoga as way of life for an individual’s own benefit. She expressed hopes to continue such campaign for a more healthy society through art and science of yoga.
Earlier, Dr Ashaq Malik, Co-ordinator of Red Cross, GCW, Gandhi Nagar introduced the audience about the programme, while Prof Amitpal Kour from English Department presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were Prof BK Gandotra, Prof Veer Ji Koul, Prof Anjali Bhat, Prof Raj Kumar, Prof Kamlesh Slathia, Prof Ravi and Prof Manisha Kohli.
