No to Indo-Pak series

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Govts’ no’ to Indo Pak Series’ May 30, 2017.
The decision of the Government not to resume Indo-Pak Cricket ties for now is more than welcome. There is no urgency to have cricket matches at a time when the relations between the countries are at nadir.
In case cricket ties are resumed, it will create more acrimony and bad blood between the people of two countries than help them come closer. India-Pakistan cricket match is akin to that of war between two countries.
Besides, the cricket teams usually come under strain in such situations. Many under performing players even have to face the fury of public, as has been witnessed in the past.
Pakistan has herself to blame for the present situation. There is so much violence and terrorism in Pakistan that no country wants to send its players to Pakistan to play the match.
At the same time, India-Pakistan cricket matches have also offered opportunities for  Cricket diplomacy as a means to improve relations between the two countries by allowing heads of State to exchange visits and cricket followers from either country to travel to the other to watch the matches.
But the present scenario does not seem to be conducive for cricket matches or cricket diplomacy.
Yours etc…
