JAMMU, May 31: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Vinod Chatterji Koul today rejected the bail application of a cop namely Mohd Shafi, son of Ghulam Rasool of Kathua, who was arrested for selling narcotic substances to school going children.
After hearing Advocate DK Khajuria for the applicant whereas Public Prosecutor Bharat Bhushan for the State, the court observed, “use of narcotics by youth is increasing day by day. This increase is because the narcotics are easily available. The youth, who get addicted of narcotics, spoils not only his own life, but of his family also”.
“Those spoiling the life and career of such youth are required to be sternly dealt with as if they are allowed to be released immediately after their arrest that will encourage such people in dealing with the supply of such narcotics”, the court further said, adding “discouragement of such persons can be achieved only if they are dealt strictly in accordance with law and more particularly when one of the individual involved in this case happens to be the one, who is supposed to act against such practice of sale of narcotics and not to indulge in the same”.
“Society can never be said to be in safe hands when fence begins to destroy the crop”, the court said while rejecting the bail application.
