Addl infrastructure being created in schools under RAMSA: Bhalla

JAMMU, Oct 22: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that Government has formulated a comprehensive plan to create additional infrastructural facilities in all the High and Higher Secondary Schools across the State like additional class room, examination hall, library, computer room, laboratory besides toilet blocks under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhivan (RAMSA).
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the locals after laying foundation stones of additional facilities for students at Government High School, Deeli and Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Chief Education Officer Natha Ram Dingra, Executive Engineer D K Rampal besides other senior officers of R&B, PHE, PDD and School Education accompanied the Minister.
Mr Bhalla said that both the projects would be completed within nine months with housing facilities for students like additional class room, examinational hall, library, laboratory, computer room besides toilet blocks including drinking water storage reservoirs at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 crore under RAMSA and State Plan funding.
The Minister asked the teaching fraternity to put their all out efforts in providing quality education to the students so that they will become a good citizen of the country. He said quality education would not only bring good results for school but also help the authorities in increasing the enrolment of students in Government institutions.
Mr. Bhalla stated that the Government is making all out efforts to eradicate illiteracy from every nook and corner of the State by opening and upgrading scores of new schools. The Minister asserted that the Government also provided scholarships, free uniforms and books to the children belonging to the weaker sections of the society upto 8th class.
The Minister directed the school education authorities to create awareness in rural and far-off areas of the State about the significance of education for their wards.
