JAMMU, June 5: Representatives of various organizations today called on Director Social Welfare for highlighting the issues of disable, old age and widows.
The delegation presented a 20- point memorandum to the Director Social Welfare who gave a very patient hearing to the members of delegation. The main demands of the delegation were monthly pensions to all disables who are still deprived of the pension benefits, implementation of Disability Act 2016 without diluting it, opening of new Tehsil Social Welfare Offices, accessibility of Govt Offices for disables, all kinds of reservation benefits for disables in jobs, education, promotions etc, establishment of Disable Commission etc.
After listening to the genuine demands, the Director Social Welfare informed the delegation that State had recently appointed the Disable Commission and most of the issues mentioned in the memorandum will be readdressed very soon as after the Commission becomes functional. Further, he informed that few of the points mentioned in the memorandum are to be discussed with the higher authorities and he will try his best to sort out the same. Further, he assured his best from his side in providing aid and necessity material for the disable people.
The organizations, which were the part of the delegation, included J&K Handicap Welfare Forum Ghagwal, J&K Disable Welfare Association Akhnoor and Jammu Justice Secular Forum. The delegation was led by the Sushil Sharma (chairman J&K Disable Welfare Association Akhnoor), Charan Dass (Chairman J&K Handicap Welfare Forum Ghagwal) and Atul Sudan (working president Jammu Justice Secular Forum).
The others, who were the part of delegation, were Head-Master Naryan Dutt Singh, Sham Lal, Vakil Chand and Allah Rakha.
