Erratic BSNL service irks Ladakh people

LEH, June 8: The erratic BSNL service in Ladakh region has irked everyone be it a tourist, hotelier, travel agencies, army, student, teachers, employees or social network user.
“The data connectivity being one of the essential services is the biggest hurdles to any developmental activities in Ladakh region forcing the system to paralysis with net breakdown every now and then. We talk about Digital India connecting but Ladakh region is still deprived of basic service of net connectivity for the past several months”, said PT Kunzang, Chairman Ladakh Tourist Trade Alliance while interacting with media persons here today.
He said that due to poor internet services, tourists and tour operators have to spend hours at District Magistrate office to get online permit issued which is not only huge business loss to Ladakh region but also inconvenience to visitors forcing them to spend a day to get permit.
He added that BSNL has not been upgraded since its establishment which shows that there must be big scam which must be thoroughly investigated to find the truth. He asked the students, Government employees, politician, religious heads and tour operators to raise the issue collectively to improve the services.
“Either windup your service to pay way to others service provider or improve your services to provide uninterrupted services in Ladakh”, said All Ladakh Tour Operation Association (ALTOA) President Rinchen Namgyal while talking to media persons.
ALTOA Secretary Delex Namgyal said that due to the lack of proper coordination between different work executing agencies over deployment works, OFC cut down every now and then making entire Ladakh region to suffer.
Responding to media query, BSNL General Manager Phunchok Dorjay said that due to ongoing multiples projects by NFS, Veetal, PGCL and BRO on the Leh-Srinagar Highway, there is frequent breakdown in the date services.
He asserted that telecom services will be improved in the time to come.
