JAMMU, June 8: Senior vice president of Pradesh Congress Committee and former minister Sham Lal Sharma today expressed anguish over ‘denial’ of basic minimum facilities to the people, saying the Government has failed on all fronts of deliverance despite making lofty promises.
While addressing monthly meeting of Block Congress Committee Akhnoor, Sharma said that this BJP-PDP Government has already failed on all fronts. He said that Jammu region is experiencing frequent power crisis as well as water scarcity. For the last few days the people of Jammu region are experiencing scorching heat and shortage of water supply and unscheduled power cuts have further compounded the hardships of the common people.
Sham Lal said that when NC-Congress Government was in power, once the offices moved to Srinagar and vice versa, a minister used to camp in winter/summer capital on rotational basis for redressal of the public grievances on priority and also to give appropriate directions to concerned departments for immediate solution of problems faced by common man. He said that present Government hasn’t adopted this practice as a result, the burning issues of the people of Jammu region remain unattended and delayed. Taking a dig on BJP-PDP Government he said that since the inception of this Government there have been always crisis in all fields may it be water or power. We can say this is not coalition but a collision Government.
“People are craving for power and drinking water facilities, especially in these months of scorching summer but the administration seems to be in deep slumber which is evident from frequent and unscheduled power cuts for hours and scarcity of drinking water in most of Jammu areas”, he added.
Sharma said that the people of Jammu are suffering due to non-availability of power and water supply while the ministers, MLAs and MLCs of ruling alliance are enjoying cool weather of Kashmir valley.
Sham Lal described it as most shameful for the elected representatives from Jammu, for their non-availability to listen to the public grievances.
He cautioned the Government against testing patience of people and said that they will be forced to come on roads if the administration fails in satiating urges of the people by ensuring well regulated power and drinking water services besides improving civic amenities.
