REASI, June 8: The three-day historic Aghar Jitto Mela got underway here today.
The festival was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Babu Ram in the presence of various officers and members of local committee.
On the inaugural day, a colorful cultural programme, including folk dances, skits and plays depicting the life of Baba Jitto, local folk and social evils, were also performed by students of various educational institutions and local artists.

The ADC paid floral tributes to Bawa Jitto and complimented people of the area, especially pilgrims from various parts of the State and country. He said such type of festivals provide an opportunity to preserve rich cultural heritage and strengthen bond of brotherhood and communal harmony.
Interacting with the participants, the ADC appealed them to take part in the three day Mela which is playing a pivotal role in promotion of local culture, brotherhood and communal harmony in society.
