UDHAMPUR, June 9: Kee-ping in view strong protests by locals, particularly women of the area, District Magistrate Udhampur, Niraj Kumar has ordered seizure of newly opened wine shop at Suriya Hotel Karlah Patnitop.
This wine shop was recently shifted here from Hotel Snow View and people of three Panchayats, Karlah, Pachote and Chakwa were protesting for the closure of this shop at Suray Hotle Patnitop (Karlah).
Today, District Magistrate Udhampur Niraj Kumar (IAS), personally visited the site and interacted with the locals, especially women and found that there was strong resentment among the people over opening of this wine shop.
Later, DM Udhampur ordered Tehsildar Chenani and SHO Chenani to temporarily seize the wine shop, under Section 47 of Excise Act, with immediate effect.
Following the seizure of wine shop, locals have suspended their indefinite protest dharna.
