JDA to seal shops of defaulters, rent recovery to be expedited

JAMMU, June 9: In order to enhance the revenue deposits and receipts of the Jammu Development Authority, the Vice Chairman JDA Rajesh Kumar Shavan held the meeting of all senior officers.
It was informed during the discussion that there are certain cases where the allottees have not deposited the rent for years together and are reluctant to pay the same. The property of JDA whether strips or shops have not been properly inventorized and the influential and musclemen are using it for commercial gains.
It is pertinent to mention that the receipts of JDA are not at par with the expenditure on salaries, vehicles/POL and maintenance of assets.
The Vice Chairman has taken a strong note of it and directed all the Tehsildars, rent collectors to show tangible progress within one month otherwise stringent administrative action will be taken against them. It was directed to seal the shops of all defaulters and issue warrants for recovery of Govt money under the Land Revenue Act.
In the meeting, it was decided to make a provision for online tracking of the payment mode to detect the defaulters and the Sr. Programmer, JDA has been tasked to liaise with the concerned banks.
The Director Land Management JDA gave a brief presentation of the progress achieved in the identification and demarcation of lands.
It was pointed out that the pace of work is not so satisfactory due to shortage of Revenue staff with the Deputy Commissioners but even then the Deputy Commissioners are putting best efforts to retrieve the land and some prime land has been demarcated. The Vice Chairman directed the Khilafwarzi officers to be very strict for enforcement of new Master Plan and demolish all unauthorised construction particularly the commercial buildings within the jurisdiction of Authority.
It was clarified that for enforcement of Master Plan the Khilafwarzi Section of JDA and Chief Town Planner will keep vigil in the area of JMC and Municipal Committees as well and take immediate action under rules in consultation with the concerned civic bodies.
