Working Group for operationalization of Knowledge Initiative

JAMMU, June 9:  To work out modalities for operationalization  of Knowledge Initiative, the State Government has accorded sanction for the constitution of a Working Group, headed by Dr Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister.
Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Education, shall be co-chair the Working Group while K B Aggarwal, Financial Commossioner (coordination)/ Resident Commission, J&K Government, New Delhi and  Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, shall be its Members.  Dr  Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner Secretary Higher Education shall be Member Secretary of the Working Group.
This Working Group shall prepare a Vision Document for interventions in skills, teaching, learning, research  and innovation that will be drawn from global best practices and traditional norms.
It shall prepare policies, guidelines and schemes to ensure full literacy and competitive employability through an optimal use of existing infrastructure and human resources available in the State.
The Working Group shall also prepare a blueprint for Information Communication Technology initiative that can harness the human resources talent in the State besides preparing a plan and guideline for the creation of knowledge cluster that can become a hub of state of the art technology, research and innovation through the participation of major stakeholders.
The Working Group shall also prepare a blue print for the creation of knowledge township in the State that will provide a state of the art environment for the youth of the State to become globally competitive and where there is a seamless transition from studying to training to working to living within the same geographical space.
The Group shall co-opt experts and members for this initiative, as deemed appropriate in order to produce a time-bound report within twelve months. The report shall be submitted to the Chief Minister for further action.
