Declare Fallain-Mandal as backward: MP

JAMMU, Oct 23: Senior Congress leader and Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma today said that Fallain-Mandal Tawi island area be declared a backward in view of poor development and it topography.
Addressing a public meeting at Mandal Fallain in Marh constituency  today, the MP demanded this border area of Tawi island be declared as backward in view of its surrounded Panchayats by Tawi river on two sides and Pakistan border on the other. He also demanded that all the Panchayats in this area should be proposed and developed on the pattern of Model villages as the area lack  the basic amenities. The MP directed  the officers present on the occasion to consider the work of  immediate community importance under BADP scheme. He also asked for expediting work under MNREGA.
The Congress leader further  demanded setting up of Degree College  for this island and said that children of this area and mostly girls  face lot of hardships due to long distance. He also asked the people to take benefit of the Centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Government for their welfare. He also laid down foundation stone of a community hall at the town being constructed under MPLAD scheme. The MP claimed that Congress was committed for 73rd Amendment and empowerment of Panchayats.
