Swaran Vihar residents rue Govt apathy

JAMMU, June 14: Swaran Vihar Welfare Association in its general body meeting   accused the J&K Housing Cooperative Society which has developed the colony, of violating the terms and conditions made in the development plan.
In a signed statement issued here, today the Association said that in the development plan it was mentioned that boundaries of the colony will be fenced by erecting a wall and no approach will be provided to the private land owners adjacent to any lane of the colony and the water to the residents of the colony will be supplied daily from the boar well dug within the boundaries of the colony.
The Association said after violating the plan the Society is providing approach road to private residents adjacent to different lanes and water connections to private households
by ignoring the written objections and difficulties being faced by the residents due to such violations.
The Association said that the Commissioner, JMC and DC Jammu was also intimated by it and were asked to intervene in the matter and stop trespassing and violation of basic development plan of the colony.
It said besides the respective departments like PWD and PDD were also approached with the request to improve the dilapidated roads and lanes, install electricity transformers at different points in both the sectors of the colony so that required voltage of 1200 kv will be upgraded from present supply of only 500 kv for uninterrupted electricity supply as the area is 100 percent metered.
The Association alleged that the respective departments also failed to attend to the demands put forth by it. It warned to take any drastic step in case the Government failed to settle the demands by June 18.
