JAMMU, June 14: Talab Tillo police under Operation Chetak arrested a vehicle lifter and recovered stolen scooty from his possession.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Neeraj Kohli, son of late Vijay Kohli, a resident of Talab Tillo with police post Talab Tillo stating that some unidentified persons had stolen his scooty bearing registration number JK02AX-5818 during the intervening night of May 22 and 23 this year.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 69/17 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, many suspects were rounded up and finally police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Mohammad Tariq alias Wafar, son of Aslam, a resident of Phagtha, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. On his disclosure, the stolen scooty was recovered from Durga Nagar.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by Incharge Talab Tillo police post SI Sumit Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Nowabad Inspector Neeraj Bhagat, SDPO West Pranav Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
