MENDHAR, June 15: Several villages in Mendhar sub division are facing acute shortage of water for the last more than one month.
Reports received from various areas of Balakote, Mankote and Gursai in Mendhar Sub Division said that due to leakage of PHE pipes and motors at some pumping stations lying defunct, the water supply to the villages like Sangiot, Balakote, Lanjiot, Sandote, Deri Dabsi, Bhati Dhar, Kallar Kalaban and over two dozen hamlets in these areas are facing acute shortage of water.
The people alleged that matter was brought to the notice of the concerned field staff and also the officials at PHE Sub Division, Mendhar but no improvement in the water supply has been witnessed. They sought the intervention of DC Poonch and Chief Engineer PHE Jammu, Sushil Aima into the matter.
