JAMMU, June 17: Bakshi Nagar police under Operation Meghdoot arrested a thief and recovered stolen items valuing Rs 8000.
As per police sources, during the intervening night of June 13 and 14, a complaint was received by police station Bakshi Nagar stating that theft took place in Guru Niwas Ashram, Shakti Nagar, Jammu, wherein the thief decamped with religious idols and cash.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 80/17 under Sections 457 and 380 RPC was registered at police station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, many suspects were rounded up. While analyzing evidences, the CCTV camera footage was also analyzed.
With the help of CCTV camera footage, a person identified as Makhan Lal, son of Dherh Ram of Chowki Choura, Tehsil Akhnoor was apprehended, who admitted to have committed the theft. On his disclosure the stolen property included religious idol and cash were recovered.
During preliminary enquiry it came to surface that said accused is also involved in some other theft cases and some more recoveries are expected in near future.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Pranav Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
