Expedite work on Jammu beautification projects: CCI

JAMMU, Apr 26: Sitting president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Y V Sharma has urged the State Government to expedite work on Jammu beautification projects including Gandola from Mubarik Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu/ Mahamaya Forests at the bank of river Tawi.
Mr Sharma who is contesting elections for the post of president again during interaction with various groups of trade and industry said here that Chamber has always focused on the development of tourism infrastructure in Jammu and city beautification projects. He said Panjtirthi Gandola project and artificial lake on river Tawi are also priorities of the Chamber and he will continue to stress the Government for expediting work on these projects because these sites will attract more and more tourists to the city of temples and it will boost the economy of the area.
The CCI president welcomed the steps taken by Government to complete the Jammu convention centre which is of utmost importance and has been delayed for the long time. He pointed out that Government must take all the steps to develop Jammu as model destination for tourism in the region for which it is very necessary to develop Mansar and Saruinsar lake circuits along with other circuits which can attract tourist, especially the pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishnodevi or Shree Amarnathji cave.
He also urged the Shree Amarnath Shrine Board authorities to review its decision and enhance yatra period so that more and more pilgrims could visit the Holy cave. Mr Sharma said that he would continue his efforts to revive Central concessions/ incentives for trade and industry in Jammu and Kashmir. Assuring the delegation from the traders running their business from residential colonies, Mr Sharma assured that he would make all out efforts to get the land in these areas converted into mixed land use. He assured the traders from Transport Nagar to enhance facilities including roads, drains, street lights and drinking water there.
