JAMMU, June 18: Natrang staged a new Hindi play ‘Rang Nagri’ written by Ravi Deep in its weekly Sunday theatre Series.
The play was designed and directed by Abhishek Bharti- a young highly qualified theatre director who has been conferred Sangeet Natak Akade-mi’s prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for theatre direction and the play was assisted by Mohd Yaseen, a national scholarship holder in theatre. Play was prepared by Natrang’s fresher’s group who was trained in an acting workshop held recently and it was based on chorus performance style, beautifully structured through choreographed movements and the content had a hard hitting pinch of political comment.
The zeal and enthusiasm of the freshers was something which left the audiences stunned. The play was basically a political satire which revolved around the story of a greedy king and its kingdom and how he misuses the people. The kingdom lives in expectations that they would have a better life if they agree what the king orders to them but they were unaware of the harsh reality of what politics hold. Agantuk a person who spreads the message of self dependence and living life with their own will somehow is not able to convince the people as the king being a clever leader manipulates them to be on his side but somehow in the end people feel suffocated and poor Agantuk a true messenger is not listened to and he collapses leaving the people in his aroma and the real world where they have to help themselves and make their own life rather living on a kings unusual tantrums.
The energy with which our young aspirants showcased the play was yet another milestone for them which helped them gain a vibe of doing something great. Abhishek’s mastery over the theatrical group compositions was the highlight of the play which made this presentation highly interesting and creative as well.
Natrang actors who acted in the play included Shakti Sharma, Priya Thakur, Aashish Parihar, Dheeraj Bharti, Sand-eep Kumar, Shuaib Mukhtar, Deepali Sharma, Saransh Sagar and Anmol Sharma. Lights were designed and executed Neeraj Kant whereas music was scored by Madhav Sharma. The presentations were done by Aishwarya Sathe and the show was coordinated by Rohit Kumar.
