Shalimar market gutted in fire 

SRINAGAR:  Property worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in a devastating fire which engulfed more than 15 shops of Shalimar market situated in front of the famous Mughal garden on the bank of Dal Lake, official sources said here today.

However, no casualty was reported in the incident.  Sources said that the fire broke out in the market during the intervening night.  Fire tenders from across the city rushed to douse the leaping flames, clearly visible from the entire Dal Lake.

An official of Fire and Emergency (F&E) said it took more than four hours for 14 fire tenders to bring the blaze under control.

Police said the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained and further investigation is on.  (AGENCIES)
