Srinagar, June 19: Ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today condemned the killings of six policemen by Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, saying the restraint exercised by security forces should not be seen as their weakness.
Addressing a press conference here, State BJP leader and lawmaker Ramesh Arora termed the killings of cops as “target killings” and said: “If our democracy is surviving here, it is because only due to those persons who are performing their duties honestly. We condemn it. Arora said they appreciated armed forces, particularly State forces, for combating the proxy war.
The BJP leader, rejecting any sort of independence to Kashmir as is being demandd by separatists, made it clear that India cannot split further. “The accession (of Jammu and Kashmir with Indian union) is complete and irrevocable. We believe the accession that was done on 26 October 1947 is complete,” he said.
Arora said the armed forces are “exercising maximum restraint”, adding: “We want to clear that…restraint should not be seen their weakness.” The BJP leader urged politicians not to issue controversial statements involving armed forces. “The role of armed forces is to deal with security and they are performing their role well,” he added.
