Elderly woman murdered

KATHUA, Oct 24: An elderly woman was murdered by some unknown assailants at her residence in Ward No. 10 of Kathua town here last night.
The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Soma Devi, widow of Dhruv Singh, resident of Ward No. 10 Kathua East. The widow was living all alone and her only married daughter lives in Jammu.
A woman of the locality, namely Bimla entered the house in the morning and was shocked to see the blood ridden body of Soma Devi lying on the floor of her room. She had been apparently attacked with some blunt object on her head.
She raised alarm and people of the locality rushed the spot. They informed police about the matter. SHO Kathua and Addl SP visited the site after some time. The police officers examined the spot minutely and then shifted the body to hospital for postmortem.
It was found that house was ransacked and gold items of the victim besides cash was also stolen. The police registered a case under Section 302 RPC and started investigation. It is pertinent to mention here that under similar circumstances a woman of the same locality was done to death last year in Ward No. 10. She was also all alone when attacked by some unknown persons. The police failed to solve the blind murder till date.
A senior police official however, claimed that blind murder of the woman will be solved with the help of Forensic experts. He said the police was working on two-three angles.
