CCI Jammu president meets CM, FM; urges for early implementation of GST

SRINAGAR, June 30: President, Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CCI), Jammu, Rakesh Gupta, met Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister (FM), Haseeb Drabu, and urged for timely and smooth implementation of GST in J&K.
During his meeting with CM and Finance Minister, Chamber president apprised them of the fall out if GST is not implemented and also conveyed that no goods can be imported from outside the State from July 1 till the time GST is implemented which may lead to shortage of essential supplies.
The CM and the Finance Minister assured the Chamber president that a session of the assembly has been convened from July 4 and GST shall be implemented at an early date. They also assured that the special financial powers will be used to take care of incentives to the Industries and all other suggestions of the Chamber shall be considered while implementing the GST.
The Chamber president also discussed toll at Lakhanpur, walnuts, hotel industry and many more concessions post GST and expressed satisfaction after the assurance from the top office of the Government.
Gupta warned those opposing GST and conveyed to them that they stand exposed by misleading people on one hand but already having got their GSTN to carry on their business smoothly.
The Chamber president advised its members to carry on with the VAT billing till the GST is implemented and avoid importing goods from outside the State till GST is implemented.
