Rich tributes paid to Maharaja on his 51st death anniversary

JAMMU, Apr 26: Rich tributes were paid to Late Maharaja Hari Singh on his 51 death anniversary here today. In this connection functions were held at different places to remember the last Maharaja of the State by various social and political organizations.
On the occasion a function was organized by Shri Amar Kshtriya Rajput Sabha at Tawi bridge where a statue of Maharaja was recently unveiled by the Government.
Recalling the Maharaja Hari Singh, the speakers termed him a great visionary and a dynamic personality. They said Maharaja was last Dogra ruler of the State who was much popular among the then rulers of the country.
President of the Sabha Narayan Singh along with other office bearers of the Sabha paid tributes to Maharaja.
BJP MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria who also attended the function too paid floral tributes to Late Maharaja. Prominent among those who paid tributes to Maharaja included Pavitar Singh, president JPPF, M S Katoch, Kuldip Wahi, B S Jamwal, A S Jasrotia, K S Jasrotia, Inderjit Khajuria, Gajan Singh, S Surjit Singh, Mrs Sujata, Mrs Veena Rathore and Rajesh Kesri.
Rich tributes were also paid to late Maharaja Hari Singh by the activists and leaders of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) at a party meeting here today. The meeting was chaired by Anil Gupta chairman JKDF and Arun Khanna its district president Jammu Urban.
Describing Maharaja as symbol of Dogra dynasty and Dogra heritage, Anil Gupta said he played an important role in accession of the State with India. He was a great reformer, visionary, a patriotic and a revolutionary ruler. He empowered village Panchayats, which then were used to resolve community conflicts in villages.
Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid tributes to Late Maharaja Hari Singh on his 51st death anniversary which was led by Vikram Singh, district vice president of the Party for Jammu urban.
The PDP activists assembled at Dogra Chowk in front of newly installed statue of Maharaja Hari Singh and expressed their views and experiences on the reforms, development and benevolent deeds of last ruler of the State.
National Working Committee (NCC) of Panthers Party paid rich tributes to the last ruler of the State who breathed his last at Mumbai 51 years ago at the age of 66 years while in exile.
The leaders of the Party described Maharaja a great democrate, philanthropist, moralist, human and proletariat Maharaja who established High Court in 1928 for the enforcement of civil rights, introduced elected Parliament in thirties, opened all public places including temples for everybody including the depressed classes, made primary education as compulsory, banned child marriage, smoking among the children and also outlawed the foeticide of female child.
