SRINAGAR : Accusing Finance Minster Haseeb Drabu of being the most confused person, Congress MLA Usman Majeed today asked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to be careful of him if she wanted to head the treasury bench again.
Accusing Dr Drabu of taking a U-turn from his stand on implementation of GST in the state, Mr Majeed said the Finance Minister was himself confused over the safeguards which can be applied on the tax regime so that the special status of J&K was preserved.
“Dr Drabu fooled former Finance Minister Abdul Raheem Rather under NC-led Government, who thought he was a man of vision. Dr Drabu made Mr Rather believe that RBI taking over from the J&K Bank the role of providing overdraft facilities to the State Government was a good initiative. But, because of which people are facing hardships,” Mr Usman said in the Assembly during a debate on GST.
“So how can you believe him? He will do the same thing again,” he said. “PDP was because of Mufti Mohammad Syeed and Mehbooba Mufti and not because of Dr Drabu or any other person. So, if you want to be chief minister again and enter the Assembly, you (Mehbooba) should be careful of Dr Drabu,” he said.
The Congress member alleged Dr Drabu has created confusion in the state about GST. Both the Houses of the Legislature are debating GST since yesterday. (AGENCIES)
