SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today apologised for the lynching threat by her Cabinet colleague Imran Raza Ansari to main opposition National Conference member Devender Rana during debate on Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the Assembly yesterday.
Mr Rana accepted the apology and thanked the Chief Minister for reinstating the dignity of the Assembly.
Earlier, Speaker Kavinder Gupta expunged the words of Minister from the records though the Opposition asked that an FIR be registered against Mr Rana.
“I apologised to NC lawmaker Devender Rana for PDP minister Imran Ansari’s lynching comment,” she said after the House met again in the afternoon.
“Yesterday there was heated argument between Mr Ansari and Mr Rana. During this argument some words were exchanged. But, I was myself taken aback for some time over the word used by Mr Ansari,” Ms Mufti said.
However, she said she is sure that Mr Ansari did not say it with such intentions. (AGENCIES)
