NEW DELHI: He made his acting debut with ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’, and has established a niche for himself as an actor to reckon with films like ‘Akaash Vani’ and ‘Pyaar Ka Panchnaama 2’.
Kartik Aaryan, who has come a long way since his debut, feels that it is the hard work and talent that matter in the long run in Bollywood and is being given credit in the film industry and that nepotism is a blown out of proportion thing.
Talking , Kartik, who plays the lead in the upcoming film ‘Guest Iin London’, said,”I think hard work and talent is given credit in the Bollywood industry. I received a warm welcome when I came in the industry and after the success of ‘Pyaar ka Punchnama 2’, despite being an outsider I received calls and offers from many production houses.” ”So, in this sense, I didn’t face or experience a nepotism situation. I think it’s a blown out of proportion situation. Whether the star kids or other people from the industry, whenever they see my films they call or message me and congratulate me for my good work.” The ‘Akaash Vaani’ fame actor said that his parents wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer, but he wanted to become an actor. “I never told my parents that I wanted to become an actor, because placing your wishes sometimes becomes difficult. My parents dreamt of me becoming a doctor or an engineer, so I kept on preparing for medical and engineering exams.Though in my mind, it kept going that I have to go Mumbai and luckily I got admission in a college in Mumbai and so forth my journey started,” the 28-year-old actor said. Kartik who has been seen doing lighthearted movies until now told that he is comfortable in doing comedy genre and is not planning to change the genre as of now. “I have not thought of changing the comedy genre yet because it depends on my scripts. If I get another 100 scripts based on good comedy, I will prefer doing it. I am comfortable with this genre,” he said. Kartik added,”I would say comedy is the most difficult genre to pull off. There is a thin line between delivering a funny line, being loud or be subtle. That is a very difficult zone.” The actor said personally he liked doing emotional roles but he keeps getting films which are comic in nature. Kartik who is famous for delivering monologues told that he usually looks for the relatability factor in the movies which is why he did ‘Guest Iin London’.
“I usually look for a relatability factor in the movies, so that I can relate to them. Like for this movie there at times one has faced situations when any unwanted guests arrive at your place like cousins, aunty, uncle etc. In this sense, the story of ‘Guest Iin London’ is relatable, funny and emotionally balanced.
And this is the reason I chose this film,” he said. He said the situations in the movie are closer to reality. ”There is no negativity, only positivity in every character whether its the guest or a host,” he said. Denying that
“Guest Iin London” is a sequel to Ajay Devgan’s “Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge” , Kartik said,”It is not a sequel. May be a new series will start from this one.Outwardly it will be seen the concept might look similar but after watching the movie you will realise the story is not the same.
Ajay Devgun and other big stars cannot be replaced.We don’t want any comparisons.” Talking about his upcoming movie with Nushrat Bharucha “Sonu Ka Titu Ki Sweety” , Kartik said, “This will be my fourth film with Nushrat, third with Sunny Singh and fourth with Luv Ranjan.
This is a good collaboration as I have started my debut movie with him.” Kartik, who has been seen sharing the screen with Nushrat in many films earlier, said,”I am a good camaraderie with Nushrat.
Though it entirely depends on directors who they choose my heroine. I am comfortable with Nushrat and Kriti as well. I think I am blessed that I have co-actors who are comfortable both on screen and off screen. I am really glad for all these things.”
Kartik told that he is a big fan of Akshay Kumar in terms of comedy and action hero.”I think he is the perfect star.” Directed by Ashwini Dhir, ‘Guest Iin London’ features Kartik in the lead along with Kriti Kharbanda, Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi in key roles. The film hits cinema screens tomorrow.
