SAMBA, July 6: Irked over power crisis, residents of Bandral and adjoining villages staged a protest demonstration against the PDD authorities and blocked Vijaypur-Ramgarh road for more than three hours today.
The protesters alleged that in absence of power the survival of old and infirm people has become difficult in this hot and humid weather. Despite repeated pleas to the PDD authorities no steps have been taken to supply un-interrupted power in the area, they alleged.
The hours-long cuts have become routine affair for the past two weeks and the resident of  Bandral and several adjoining villages are facing hardships due to power crisis but the authorities at the helm of the affairs are sleeping over the issue. “The PDD authorities have forced us to come on road and take such extreme step”, they added.
Later, senior officers from civil administration and the police pacified the protesters. They assured on the behalf of the PDD authorities that power supply will be resumed soon to the area.
Similar, protest was also held in Vijaypur over power crisis and alleged negligence of the PDD authorities under the leadership of Babbal Gupta. The protesters met with the PDD officials and demanded necessary action to resolve the grave issue.
