Srinagar, July 9: Normal life resumed in Kashmir today a day after a shutdown was observed on the first anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani and curfew imposed by authorities in many parts of the Valley to thwart the protests.
Traffic was back on roads, shops and other business units were opened in all the towns of the Valley except in Tral where spontaneous shutdown was observed for the second day today.
Shutdown was also observed in Trehgam in Kupwara on the third consecutive day against the alleged “high handedness” of police.
The Sunday flea market witnessed a significant rush despite hot weather. And despite Sunday, shops were opened across Kashmir.
Train services in the Valley resumed today after two days suspension. The service was suspended on Friday, in wake of first anniversary of Wani. The services were suspended on Srinagar-Baramulla segment and Banihal-Srinagar section.
The Amarnath Yarta also resumed today after day long suspension due to shutdown in Kashmir and security reasons.

The Valley observed a complete shutdown on Saturday on the first death anniversary of Wani, with authorities clamping down on all access to roads and internet services suspended across the Valley.
Mobile Internet services in Kashmir were restored last night, two days after the facility was snapped in view of apprehensions of law and order problems on the first death anniversary of Wani. However, the high speed network is still suspended. The decision to restore high speed Internet services would be taken after assessing the situation today.
A police man was injured in Tral area of South Kashmir in a grenade attack on a Police party last night.
Police said that militants hurled a grenade on a police party in Aripal Tral area of South Kashmir at around 11 p.m A cop was injured in the blast and he was rushed to hospital for treatment.
