Lions Club, Police observe ‘Martyrs Day’

JAMMU, Oct 27: Lions Club R S Pura and J&K Police organized a function in connection with the Martyrs Day (Balidan Divas) at R S Pura town today.
It was 11th `Balidan Divas’ observed to remember the sacrifices of DySP Devinder Sharma and Head Constable Gurbachan Singh of J&K police. IGP Jammu Zone Dilbagh Singh was the chief guest who planted some saplings at Devinder Memorial Play Ground in the town. An impressive Guard of Honour was given to the martyrs by a decorated contingent of State Police.
SSP Jammu Parbhat Singh, SP Shailender Singh and SP J SW Johar, SDPO Diwakar Singh and DySP Dar Vinay Kumar were also present on the occasion. Chairman Lions Club R S Pura- Jagjit Singh, president M L Khanna and general secretary K K Khajuria also witnessed the occasion besides other members of the Club.
While speaking on the occasion, Dilbagh Singh lauded the role and sacrifices of brace Police Officer and Head Constable Gurbachan Singh and also extended gratitude to the civil society for acknowledging the sacrifices of these martyrs and remembering them every year by organizing this function. He assured full cooperation to the people of the area for the sake of national interest. Jagjit Singh and M L Khanna also addressed the gathering and extended gratitude to the police for rendering cooperation.
