Eid-ul-Zuha celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety across Jammu region

JAMMU, Oct 27: Eid-ul-Zuha was celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety across the Jammu region today with members of Muslim community holding special prayers in Eidgahs and mosques all over the region.
In Jammu city, the biggest congregation was held at Eidgah Residency Road this morning where a large number of Muslim community members drawn from different parts of the city participated in the special Eid prayers.
Among the dignitaries who offered the Eid Namaz at Eidgah included Minister of Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik and MoS Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan.
Talking to reporters after the Eid Namaz, Mr Malik said that Eid brings the message of love and brotherhood and it creates a spirit of selfless service to mankind and sacrificing everything on the name of God. It also gives the message of co-existence, fellow feeling, humanity and tolerance, he added.
The Minister said that Eid was to be celebrated every where today and termed the reports baseless that in J&K and other parts of the country the Eid was celebrated yesterday.
The Muslims attired in new and white clothes were seen greeting each other on the occasion. The members of Hindu and Sikh communities also greeted their Muslim brethren on the occasion.
The children were seen busy in purchasing toys and balloons, kites etc. Eid prayers were also held in Jama Masjid Khatin Ka Talab, Jama Masjid, Kacchi Chawni, Jama Masjid Tawi bridge, Eidgahs of Bhatindi, Malik Market, Sidhrah and other places.
Reports coming from other parts of the region said that Eid was celebrated with full enthusiasm and charm at Doda, Kishtwar, Bhadarwah, Ramban, Banihal, Bani, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Mendhar and other parts of the region where thousands of Muslims thronged the Eidgahs and local mosques to offer special Eid prayers.
At Mendhar the Eid prayers were held at Jama Masjid Mendhar under the supervision of Moulana Mohammed Ayub Nakshbandi, while at Harni Eidgah Moulana Noor Ahmed Noorani led the Eid prayers.
Eid prayers were also held at Madrassa Taleem –ul-Quran at Harni under the supervision of Moulana Mohammed Irshad . On the occasion the religious discourses and importance of sacrifice was given by Qazi Fiazullah Khan of Darul Quran Gujranwala Khalli Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Minister of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today visited Bhatindi and Malik market Eidgahs to greet the Muslim brethren on the occasion of Eid. He said this joyous festival will be a harbinger of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity which are the hallmark of the State’s glorious pluralistic culture.
He said this festival brings a message of peace, brotherhood, amity and love besides tolerance and patience.
BJP MLA from Jammu East Ashok Khajuria and NC provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta were among several political leaders who greeted their Muslim brethren at Eidgah, Residency Road on the occasion of Eid -ul -Zuha today.
