Water shortage in Pochhal

We the residents of village Pochhal in Kishtwar want to bring in the notice of the PHE department the scarcity of water facing the people. The problem has been brought in the notice of the authorities many times but no action in this regard has been taken by them. The shortage of water has hit the saffaron harvesting as people go to fetch water rather than attend fields.
The pipes are as old as the village is, and these have now got rusted and broken at many places.
In this situation, it is requested that this perennial problem be resolved for once.

A hostel for Teli Community
It is a matter of fact that Teli Community which is economically, socially and educationally backward is living in almost all parts of the State of J&K and more particularly in every nook and corner of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur and Ramban District in Jammu Division. Inspite of the most affected community during 1947, 1965 and 1971 turmoil not an iota of assistance was provided by Governments and till date consistently neglected.
On the one hand the reservation for which the Teli Community is entitled has not been provided so far and on the other hand, Govt is not keen to improve the educational status of the Community. Not a single hostel in the State has been set up by the Government for the children of the Teli Community on the pattern of the Gujjar & Bakerwal hostels.
Teli Community being a weak and underprivileged community needs special attention of the Government in order to improve its social, economic and educational status and by virtue of that unemployment, poverty, illiteracy can be eradicated from the Teli Community. One of the main facilities which the students of the Teli Community urgently need is a hostel in Jammu District on the pattern of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostels.
I urge the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is keen enough to provide better facilities for education to set up a hostel for the students of the Teli Community in Jammu District.

Fill the posts of HDO
We, the students of B.S.c Horticulture want to bring in the notice of concerned authorities, the gross injustice meted out to us regarding the eligibility criteria for the post of Horticulture Development Officer (HDO). J&K PSC which is competent authority to fill the posts of HDO have prescribed M.Sc Horticulture as a basic eligibility for the said post while for all other gazetted posts like Agriculture Extension Officer, Range Officer, Assistant Forest Conservator, Asstt. Veterinary Surgeon graduation is the basic eligibility so why double standards for Horticulture Development Officer Posts. Further, the package of courses and field work designed for B.Sc Horticultural Programme by Indian Council of Agriculture and Research (ICAR) and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) includes Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture, Post Harvest Technology, duly under the ambit of duty which a HDO is supposed to perform.
Then why are we forced to undergo through Master Degree Course, just to become eligible for HDO? Why this inequality with this Post?
The authorities are hereby apprised of the fact that a good number of graduate students with Horticulture as specialisation are available. The Commission perhaps bear the impression that the Degree of B.Sc Horticulture is not being awarded by the Agriculture Universities of the State. However, this is not a fact as the Degree is being awarded very well since 2007 and as of now six batches of students having completed the Degree successfully are available for the post.
It is our request to the concerned authority to timely revisit this eligibility criteria so that the students of B.Sc Horticulture get a level to compete and our special Degree Programmes get due honour.
Hope our pitiable plight is not allowed to linger any longer and this grievance is redressed as soon as possible.

Woes of Peer Baba Wali Gali residents
We the inhabitants of Peer Baba Wali Gali, Lakhdata Bazaar Jammu, want to bring into the kind notice of the authorities concerned that some influential shopkeepers of Lakhdata Bazaar have got changed the alignment of the drains so as to suit their whims and fancy as a result all the innocent people of the area have been put to multifaceted hardships especially during even mild rains as water gets logged in the main Lakhdata Bazaar and also gushes in the lanes thereby making it difficult for the residents of the area to come out of their homes during rains. It needs special mention that there are four places of religious importance in the locality and approach road to these gets blocked in slightest of rains.
The concerned Municipal authorities are requested to take cognizance of the matter and get the alignment of drains corrected at an earliest so that inhabitants in general and school going children and aged people in particular could heave a sigh of relief.

Refuse disposal at Swaran Vihar
Swaran Vihar Housing Colony has become a place for snakes, rats and scorpions in the absence of sanitary support. A good number of plots are open that have now turned into refuse dumps permanently. Refuse including garbage and rubbish is thrown where the space is open. This situation is undesirable and unhygenic. Open plots have also grown thick bushes and long congress grass. Rodent population can rapidly grow under the present situation if the right measures are not taken for permanent results as desired.
Sanitary refuse system demands adequate and regular refuse collection service. The Municipal authorities should help people so that waste should be disposed of in a proper manner, inaccessible to rats and rodents.
Management of the Cooperative Housing Corporation is well aware of the problems that are facing colony residents. Management has time and again been apprised of the situation but no action has been taken so far.
