KATRA, July 17: Casual employees of Municipal Committee Katra continued their protest for the third consecutive day today in protest against not forwarding their case for regularization of service and disposal of their salaries.
Shouting slogans against MC Katra, they staged a dharna on the road along with their children. They also disrupted vehicular movement on the road and torched an effigy of the Municipal authorities.

The protesters claimed that bio metric forms of only 60 Causal Labourers were sent by MC Katra while 160 others were willfully rejected. Terming the list prepared by the Municipal Committee Katra as a bundle of lies, they feared that their services were at stake.
Sohan Chand, president of the union, addressed the protesters and highlighted grievances of the Casual employees. He said that a number of committees were formed by the State Government to resolve their long-pending issues and demands, but every time their file was thrown to dustbin in the Secretariat. He informed that the workers had not received the wages for the last 18 months.
The Union leader claimed that CEO Katra Municipal Committee had randomly chosen only 60 employees for biometric Id but there were other 160 forms pending. He announced to continue the protest till their demand is conceded.
