SRINAGAR, July 19: Expressing shock and anguish over the prevailing situation along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, senior National Conference leader and MLA Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, has urged the Centre as well as State Governments to take urgent measures to de-escalate the tension along border.
In a statement, Altaf condemned the incidents of heavy shelling along the Line of Control, particularly in Poonch and Rajouri areas that has affected the people living in the twin districts.
Belying the claims of the Centre as well as the State Government on necessary steps like construction of underground bunkers, shifting of affected people to safer places by providing them land, Mian Altaf said that the Governments have done nothing for the affected people in last two years.
“The administration has failed to provide any proper relief to the affected people as well” the statement added. Altaf demanded immediate relief to the affected people and urged the Government to act immediately and move them to safer areas to prevent human loss.
Mian Altaf urged the Government of India as well as the State Government to take effective and urgent measures to de-escalate the situation and bring an end to the miseries of the hapless people of the border areas in Jammu and Kashmir who are caught in the deadly shelling,” the statement added.
