POONCH, July 19: About 50 kanal forest land was retrieved by the officials of State Forest Department during an operation in Harni area of Mendhar today.
Official sources said that a team of Forest Department led by Range Officer Azmat Hussain Shah, under the supervision of DFO Poonch, Som Dutt organised an operation and cleared nearly 50 kanal of land in Compartment No. 163 near Harni, encroached upon by eight persons. There was some resistance initially from the locals but later they escaped. Conservator of Forests, West Circler Jammu, Mohan Dass was supervising the over all operation. FPF men and forest guards assisted the team.
