JAMMU, July 20: Police today arrested a man with 20 kg poppy straw from Miran Sahib area of city outskirts.
“On specific information, Surinder Choudhary, SDPO, RS Pura, laid a special naka near police station Miran Sahib and during checking one truck bearing registration number JK02AC- 9637 driven by Jagjeet Singh alias Vicky son of Teja Singh, resident of Upper Gadigarh was stopped”, a police spokesman said.
He said that on through search, about 20 kg of Bhukki (Poppy straw) was recovered from the truck. “The driver was arrested and truck as well as recovered Bhukki was seized”, he said, adding, a case FIR No 99/2017 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against the driver in police station Miran Sahib.
The arrest and recovery was made under the close supervision of SP HQ, Romesh Kotwal and SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta.
