JAMMU, July 23: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS) Jammu today organized a literary function at KL Saigal Hall of Cultural Academy where a book of Punjabi Ghazals titled ‘Jag Vedna Da Aina’ written by Amar Singh Kuka was released.
Pt Vidya Ratan Aasi, a veteran Urdu poet of Jammu was the chief guest. Didar Singh, former Deputy Director, Doordarshan and a well known Punjabi and Hindi Short story writer of J&K, presided over the function.
Dr Tarun Singh, president, Namdhari Sikh Sangat, J&K, Tarsem Khular, president, J&K Bahujan Samaj Party, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, PLS president and Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, PLS secretary also shared the presidium.
In his welcome address, PLS president said that PLS is working for the development of Punjabi language. He said that Sabha is actively involved in conducting literary events including publication and release of books of different Punjabi writers. He further told that the present collection of Ghazals is the debut publication of the Ghazals of the senior writer.
In his address, Amar Singh Kuka said that though he had written a number of Ghazals on different issues in various genres but could not get his works published. He expressed gratitude of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha for supporting the publication and release of the book.
A paper was read out by Dr Nirmal Vinod, a writer of Hindi, Punjabi, Dogri and Pahari, on the poetry book released in the function. Dr Baljeet Singh conducted the proceedings of the event. Pt Vidya Ratan also expressed his views on the poetry of Amar Singh Kuka.
A large number of intellectuals, writers, artists, musicians as well as theatre and film personalities attended the event. Prominent among them were Ajeet Singh Mastana, Dr Monojit, Surinder Kaur Neer, Ichhupal Singh, Hardeep Singh Deep, Deepak Arsi, Pyasa Anjum, Pritam Singh Anjaan, Jang S. Verman, Suraj Singh Suraj, Resham Kaur Resham, Amrik Singh Namdhari, Gurpreet Kaur, Harbhajan Singh Upasak, K K Shakir, Swamy Antarnirav and Rahi Simbalpuria.
