JAMMU, July 23: Glowing tributes were paid to Kuldeep Verma the hero of 2008 Amarnath land row agitation on his 10th martyrdom day here today.
In this connection BJP organised a function at its Kachi Chawni Office in which speakers termed Kuldeep Verma the hero of the agitation who gave a turning point to the struggle launched by nationalist people.
District president BJP, Ayodhya Gupta, Vice-Chairperson JAKFED Munish Sharma, State president Mahila Morcha Purnima Sharma, Senior Leader Chander Mohan Sharma along with other party leaders and activists as well as wife of the martyr Kuldeep Verma, Shilpi Verma and his son Anmol Verma  were present during the programme.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the large gathering, said that martyr Kuldeep Verma was a hero of 2008 agitation and his sacrifice prompted every single, whether old or young , man or woman to come out of their houses, leaving their routine affairs behind in the entire Jammu region to participate in the struggle. He said that his sacrifice for the cause of Jammu gave rise to the series of events, due to which the agitation was able to touch the zenith of resistance.
He said Verma sacrifice is a sign of valour and pride of Dogra culture to fight for truth and justice. Ayodhya Gupta said that the BJP is committed to stand by the side of all those who are willing to fight for the nation and society. He said that the martyrdom of Kuldeep Verma has reemphasized the need to follow the path of struggle for existence by Jammuites. “We all must always remember his supreme and selfless sacrifice”, he added.
Chander Mohan Sharma, while remembering Shaheed Kuldeep Verma, said that no Jammuite will forget him as he inspired every one that nothing is more sacred than national cause and he laid down his life for the same cause.
He said that the agitation of 2008 was fought for two things, first to resist the attack on faith and second was perpetual discrimination against Jammu.
Shilpi Verma said that the true homage to Shaheed Kuldeep Verma can be paid by respecting his principles. She said that his sacrifice laid the foundation of great struggle ahead for the redemption of pride of Jammu. Families of all martyrs must be taken care of with utmost respect, she added.
A book, written by well known author Ved Rahi was also released by Sat Sharma. Book is named as “Anant” and based on life events of martyr Kuldeep Verma which laid the ground for his intense patriotic feelings leading to his supreme sacrifice.

Singh, Dr. Akshay Sharma , Jeet Angral, Vijay Sharma, Narayan, Reva Sambyal, Keshav Chopra, Manish Gupta, Onkar Singh Bose, Atul Bakshi, Vinod Wazir, Rajesh Gupta, Jyoti Sharma, Ravi, Sudesh, Suresh, Santosh Bhagat, Rama Khajuria, Romila, Shudesh Gupta, Urmila Sharma, Naresh Kumari, Ashok Choudhary, Ramesh, Devinder Bhagat and others were also present.
