VC Handloom Corpn, former Minister, Member SASB, KU VC call on Governor

SRINAGAR, July 25: Nizamuddin Bhat, Vice-Chairman, Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation, called on Governor N. N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
Bhat apprised the Governor about the steps under way for development and promotion of handlooms and handicrafts manufactured in the State, the production infrastructure available, the technical, financial and other facilities being made available to co-operatives, producers, small traders and their associates for producing and supplying raw materials.
Governor stressed the high importance of improving production efficiency, devising a sound marketing strategy for the products and safeguarding the commercial interests of craftsmen and artisans, particularly in the wake of the cheaply priced fake goods being sold in the market.
G.H. Mir, former Minister also called on Governor and held discussions about the obtaining challenges being faced in J&K and the steps required for engendering conditions which can lead to sustained peace and normalcy.
D.C. Raina, Member Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and Legal Advisor to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, called on Governor.
Raina discussed with the Governor certain legal issues and matters relating to the efficient conduct and management of the pilgrimages and administration of both the Boards.
Dr. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University also called on Governor.
Governor advised Dr. Andrabi to critically examine the continuing relevance of some of the existing courses being offered by the University, and also follow up on the career paths of the pass outs to determine the need and nature of new courses.
The Governor stressed on the VC to ensure against any deviation from the norm which vitiates the academic environment of the Campus and results in eroding the teaching and research programmes. He re-iterated his concern about strict adherence to discipline and academic accountability and the need for teachers to remain closely connected with youth and guide to them effectively.
