POONCH, July 25: Security forces today averted a major catastrophe when they recovered five kilograms Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from village Loran, just four days before start of Shri Budda Amarnath Ji yatra in the area.
Sources said the IED along with wire and other accessories was being fabricated by the    militants at an isolated area of Loran. However, joint teams of Army and police detected the IED this afternoon during a search operation and recovered it.
The IED was subsequently defused.
Security forces later conducted searches in the area to track down the militants involved in fabricating the IED but they remained untraced. However, the searches continued.
Sources didn’t rule out the possibility of the IED being fabricated by the militants to target annual Budda Amarnath Ji yatra.
Police party in the operation was led by DySP Headquarters Nayeem Choudhary.
