SAMBA, July 28: Coming down heavily on the State Government and BJP in particular for perpetuating discrimination against the educated youth of Jammu, a large number of Panthers Party activists led by State president of the party, Yashpal Kundal staged a protest demonstration here today.
The protesters torched the effigy of the BJP-PDP combine and sought equitable treatment with Jammu youth at par with Kashmiris.
Alleging large scale irregularities, nepotism, corruption and regional discrimination with Jammu youth in the process of PSC selections for the posts of Assistant Professors and lecturers in various disciplines in the department of Higher Education and School Education respectively, Yashpal Kundal said that PSC in the State has lost its sanctity while alleging huge regional bias in recruitments made by the ‘constitutional body’ for these posts during the last two and a half years. He said that the research conducted by the Panthers Party in the respective select lists revealed abysmally low share of Jammu region in the said recruitments as compared to Kashmir.
He cautioned the State Government and the BJP leaders in particular that the regional bias in selections and the harassment of the underemployed had caused a severe embitterment among the youth of Jammu which could explode anytime and prove fatal for the ominous dispensation.
Dismayed over the deprivation of Jammu youth in selections to Govt services, Singh made a shocking reference of 10,000 posts of SPOs sanctioned by the Govt of India for J&K earlier which were out rightly assigned to various districts of Kashmir region by depriving Jammu province with full consent of BJP. He said after voice being raised from several quarters 2000 posts were assigned to Jammu region but ironically the selections were reportedly made on monetary and extraneous considerations by the BJP MLAs and Ministers.
He also lambasted the State Govt for its nonchalant attitude towards nearly 62000 DRW’s, need based workers and casual labourers of various departments and other lower rung employees who were forced to work like bonded labourers and languish in open without paying their meager wages for more than 3 years.
