DDC outlines plan to further expand campaign

REASI, July 28: After achieving ODF targets for Reasi Block, District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar has selected Pouni block and outlined a comprehensive plan to make it Open Defecation Free (ODF) soon.
In this regard, a meeting was called here today by the DDC to finalize an action plan for achieving the fixed targets. Various officers, officials and local people of the block participated in the meeting and expressed their views.
The participants were also educated on the concept of leach pit method, also called twin-peach technology and its application in constructing the toilets in an economic and efficient way. Besides, videos on hazards of ODF were also shown through presentation.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that all stake holders have to work with enthusiasm and intensive zeal by involving grass root level workers and Government functionaries to make block Pouni ODF in shortest possible time.
A total of 16 panchyat nodal officers, 74 enumeration block nodal officers and 4 cluster nodal officers have been engaged for 16 panchyats while as 5 panchyats would be exclusively monitored by the BDO Pouni, so far as, ODF campaign is concerned.
Meanwhile, it was informed that more than 30 percent work on construction of bathrooms and toilets in the houses has been completed.
Pertinently, Tehsildar Pouni, who is also Tehsil nodal officer for the programme, has conducted door to door survey with the aid of Agriculture and Education Departments and collected details of toilets in the block and accordingly the targets were fixed for making the block ODF.
It was informed that out of total 7283 households, 2476 have constructed their individual toilets while as 4825 houses needed to be covered.
Further, it was informed that a team of more than 855 officers and officials of various departments have been engaged to achieve the desired targets. In addition, ex-sarpanches, ex-panches and other prominent people would also extend support.
