Kathua Police arrests bootlegger, recovers stolen motor cycle

KATHUA, July 29: Continuing the staunch drive launched by District Police Kathua against selling of illicit liquor, Police party of Police Station Kathua headed by Inspector Anil Kumar Sharma, SHO PS Kathua on specific information conducted raid at Barnoti and arrested a bootlegger namely Gurmeet Singh S/o Rangil Singh R/o Barnoti and recovered 20 pouches of J&K excise liquor from his possession.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 227/2017 u/s 48-F Excise Act has been registered against him at PS Kathua and investigation is set into motion. Police said besides, on July 26 a case FIR No. 226/2017 U/S 379 RPC was lodged in PS Kathua by Taj Din S/o Namu Din R/o Ghatti Tehsil & District Kathua regarding theft of his Motor Cycle (Hero Honda) bearing registration No. PB35L-2898 from Ghatti area.
Police during investigation recovered the Motor Cycle from Mohd. Ali alias Tinu S/o Nawab Din R/o Ghatti Tehsil & District Kathua within three days and solved the theft case.
The drive was carried out under the close supervision of S.S. Sambyal, DySP Hqrs. Kathua and overall supervision of Mohd. Suleman Choudhary-, SSP Kathua.
