Aadhaar enters education stream, simplifies process

NEW DELHI, July 31:
The use of Aadhaar in school education related-schemes as identity document for the delivery of services, benefits or subsidies, simplifies the Government delivery processes, brings in transparency and efficiency, and enables beneficiaries to get their entitlements directly to them in a convenient and seamless manner, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
According to Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha, Aadhaar is being used as an identifier in various school education-related schemes, including the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for providing quality education in Madrasa (SPQEM), the Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDMS), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
It is also being used as identifier in schemes like the Inclusive Education for Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS), the National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) and the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS), Mr Kushwaha said in a written reply.
Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove one’s identity, the Minister added. (UNI)
