SRINAGAR, Aug 3: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has registered a case against Chief Enforcement Officer, Enforcement Officer and an Building Inspector of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for abusing their official position and allowing illegal constructions in Srinagar city.
A spokesman from SVO said that a joint surprise checking conducted by Vigilance Organisation revealed that officials of SMC Srinagar, namely Chief Enforcement Officer Farooq Ahmed Shah, Enforcement Officer Mujeeb Hussain Sheikh, Ward Officer 22 Karan Nagar Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Bhat the then Building Inspector SMV have by abuse of their official position and in connivance with the beneficiaries, Mohd Yasin beigh, Mohd Sadiq Beigh , Nizammudin Beigh and Showkat Ahmed Beigh , sons of Mohd Amin Beigh of Karan Nagar, Srinagar and Khalida Begum, wife of Sonaullah Thakur from Karan Nagar, allowed raising of illegal structures without having requisite building permission from the competent authority and also allowed violation of land use by way of allowing commercial activity in residential area in gross violation to BOCA rules and regulations.
Accordingly, the Vigilance registered a case FIR No. 20/ 2017 at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir under the provisions of offences punishable under sections 5(1) (d) red with 5(2) PC Act Svt 2006, Section 120-B RPC.
During the course of investigation, search warrant was obtained from the competent court and accordingly searches were carried out at the residential houses of the accused persons in association with Executive Magistrates provided by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar/ Baramulla, during which documents pertaining to Bank deposits, FDRs, Insurance policies, sale deeds of properties/ land and other Revenue documents were recovered and seized. Further investigation was in progress.
